Pastor Dennis Davis
Brother Davis and his wife, Kathy, came to Midland in May 2014 in view of a call to pastor Temple Baptist Church. He and his wife were both born in the bootheel of Missouri but were raised in West Tennessee. Brother Davis was saved on September 21, 1969, and surrendered to preach a year later. He graduated from Bible Baptist Translators Institute in Bowie, Tx in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Linguistics. He later finished his master's and doctorate in Theology in 1999 at Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary in Kennedale, Tx.
Brother Davis and his wife were married on March 12, 1971 in which they will be celebrating 45 years this coming March. They have twin boys, one in Tennessee with 4 grandchildren and the other in San Antonio with 5 grandchildren.
They have served as missionaries to Venezuela and Costa Rica. After God called them off the field, Brother Davis pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jackson, TN for 13 years.
The Davis' desire is to be a part of Midland and its surrounding area, to see souls saved and people growing in God's Word. They invite you to come and worship with them at Temple Baptist where a friendly welcome is waiting for you.
"I promise a clear view of Christ will be preached." - Dr. Dennis Davis
Associate Pastor Kerry Hoefner
Brother Kerry and his wife, Jane, were both saved as teenagers in Fort Worth, Texas. Brother Kerry and his family joined Temple Baptist Church in January 2015 and was soon after asked to fill the role of associate pastor. Prior to this, he had been a Deacon and Sunday School teacher; teaching Primary Boys and then Senior Adults. Together, they had the leadership of a Wednesday night children's ministry at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Lakeworth, Texas where he surrendered to preach. Moving to East Texas in the 1990's, Kerry was the music leader at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Surrendering to labor in the mission field, they served as missionaries to Old Mexico from 2000 to 2012, being sent out by First Baptist Church of Meadowview in Mesquite, Texas, where they were used of God to establish two Independent Baptist Churches in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, that are still functioning today.
Since joining Temple Baptist, they have become an active part of our outreach. Brother Kerry preaches at the Dick Ware Unit of the Texas prison system, located in Colorado City, in both English and Spanish, as well as teaches one of our Adult Sunday School classes, including preaching when Pastor Davis is ministering out-of-town. Miss Jane helps wherever she is needed, whether that is in the Nursery, Children's Church, one of the Children's Sunday School classes, or through the Good News Club outreach program our church offers within one of the local elementary schools here in Midland.
